Pastels rising over the gaping maw of the canyon at dawn. Standing on this cliff in solitude over 1000 feet above the river was like being on a different planet. Though not actually in the national park, this plateau has similarly been torn asunder by the mighty Colorado. It’s no wonder the Navajo consider this place sacred and, as such, keep it highly protected. June 2019
