The Milky Way rises over the Painted Wall of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. This 2000 foot sheer cliff's striations remind me of lightning lancing through the night sky, or perhaps Harry Potter's scar given to him by He Who Shall Not Be Named. I’d argue the photo doesn’t really capture the feeling of standing on the precipice in the middle of the night, wind whipping around, trying to see what you’re doing. June 2019.
